Journaling reads: When you first started potty training, it was a challenge to just get you to sit still for a second to let anything happen. Diapers were definitely an inconvenience for you but so was taking time to sit on a toilet. So, I started letting you look at my magazines. Of course, they were very appropriate for your age group. Most of them were US Weekly’s. There were a few scrapbook magazines but mostly just the SMUT. We would laugh at you looking at them as if you were actually reading. You looked at the pictures and I would try to tell you what was happening, although trying to explain the Britney Spears trainwreck was difficult. One of your favorite magazines was one that had a cartoon on the back with people eating McDonald’s hamburgers on it. You would say over and over, “Dinner at the table!” So cute, you were. We are still trying to teach you to go potty and you are doing great...when you want to. I know it won’t be long before you get the hang of it...hopefully, before you start REALLY reading this stuff."

I was going to DECLARE Emma potty trained yesterday. She was on a roll. But, I am learning that this is more of a fluid process. :)

My Hero...

It was so funny one day...you were sitting there with Trey playing beside you in his jumperoo. You were playing with your beaded necklaces. I don’t know how you knew to do this. But, you went over to Trey, placed one of your necklaces around his neck and said, “My Hero!” I couldn’t believe my ears! What a profound statement coming from a two and a half year old girl! I told your Dad and I think he was maybe just a wincy-bit jealous. That’s ok, though, because we know where Trey got his hero-gene after all! I think Trey will be your hero for many years to come. I know he will watch out after you, as he already does now. There is nothing that you do that his eyes are not focused on watching you. Although he can’t say it, you are probably his hero now. I am thankful to have yet another set of eyes focused on my girl and so proud to have a son who is worthy of hero recognition!

We practiced and practiced saying, "Happy Birthday, Christy!" She kept saying Happy Birthday Grandma because her Grandma's birthday was a few days before. NOW, a week later, she is saying "Happy Birthday Christy!" thinking I am going to give her birthday cake when she does! LOL!

Emma is doing great. She is talking a mile a minute and has recently started getting out of her crib and causing any manner of mischief. I went into her room this morning and caught her playing (outside of her crib) and I said, “Emma Bailey, how’d you get out of your crib?” Her response, with her hands on her hips and looking from side to side on the ground, was a bunch of gibberish and then, “jump!” LOL! Really funny! Today, while my Dad was watching her and Trey, she got out, went into Richard and I’s room, drank a Pepsi beside the bed, ate Richard’s bedside cookies, ate a Hersheys kiss from my side, dumped my change jar all over…the list goes on. It looked like someone had broken in and ran-sacked our room. Funny! She's growing up and is soooo much fun!

I posted a link to Emma's Two Year Pictures on the side bar. She was sooo cute! It was hectic and crazy and Emma kept trying to run into the photo rooms while other people were getting their pictures taken. But, we managed to survive the day and even got some good photos while we were doing it.

That's how Emma says "Applesauce". Applesauce is her reward for eating her dinner. It's her dessert! As she eats her dinner, she'll test you to see if it's time yet for dessert by saying "ap-sa". Finally, when you have decided it's time for her to have her applesauce she goes to town. She starts off daintily eating with her spoon...it ends up like this...with her sticking her left hand in and grabbing handfuls and never making it to her mouth. But, the smile in these pictures is what kills me. She is such a ham. She sees that camera come out and she has started to really ham it up! What a nut she is!!!

Journaling reads: "This is your first time dressing up for Halloween. I saw this costume at Target and I just couldn't resist the urge to dress you up. You were so cute. I taught you how to buzz like a bee and how to say Trick or Treat. Of course, I am not sure anyone understands you but me! I took you to Hanes Mall. I had fun showing you off and you had fun eating your suckers!"

Journaling Reads: "When we first brought Trey home, you didn't seem to notice that much. And really you were very good with the change. But, there were times I just had to laugh at you...like this time! You were sitting at your table coloring and all of a sudden you jumped up and came and sat in Trey's bouncy seat, which was right by my computer. When I noticed you sitting there, you just looked up at me and smiled a big cheesy smile. Then, you showed off. You bounced and played just like a little baby would. It's funny to me because no matter how old you are...you will always be MY baby!"

Dr. Phil

I know the thought of this probably drives Richard crazy. But, it is really funny to me. When Emma was first born I would often stumble downstairs (still sick with kidney infection) and feed her. I had DVR'ed all the Dr. Phil episodes and I would watch them while I fed her. Well, they play their theme music during every commercial and there's lots of those. So, I don't know if she associated the music and Dr. Phil's voice with food or not. All I know is that she loves his show almost as much as she loves her cartoons. Hey, I'm not complain'! LOL!

It is such a challenge managing the two of them. So, sometimes I am thankful they are on somewhat opposite schedules. But, it is sooo sweet to see them together. Emma just loves him so and he looks up at her with these BIG eyes....probably 'cause he knows she is going to pinch him soon....LOL!
